GSHW the German stakeholder of traditional vessels bears organisation and responsibility of this initiative.

The Joint Commission for Historical Vessels (Gemeinsame Kommission für Historische Wasserfahrzeuge e.V. - GSHW) is the German umbrella organisation for traditional vessels in operation. Members of this association include small and medium-sized clubs and associations operating traditional vessels, but also institutional groupings such as the Working Group of German Vintage Ship Ports ("Arbeitsgemeinschaft deutscher Museumshäfen") and the Sail Training Association Germany.

In the first place GSHW is the over all representative of Traditional Vessels in Germany. She has a significant impact on legal conditions and its implementation and approval. In this context she takes responsibility for traditional vessels in Germany and has gained considerable influence in this field.
